Types of Acne

Most people don’t know that there are different types of acne.

Acne can be a source of worry to a lot of women, especially since it often appears on the face and can greatly affect your looks. That’s why many people are always looking for ways to treat acne and completely get rid of the irritating blotches.

However, in order to effectively treat a condition, you should first understand it a little better.

A Few Types of Acne:

One of the most common types of acne is called acne vulgaris. ‘Vulgaris’ means ordinary, a term that is used to explain the acne that affects most people. It shows up as slight rashes on the skin, which may appear red on people who are light skinned.

This type of acne may be common, but it shouldn’t be taken lightly. You should get immediate treatment after being diagnosed. A common treatment for this type of acne is the usage of creams that contain benzoyl peroxide.

Another of the common types of acne is a blackhead. As suggested by its name, this type of acne shows up as dark or black spots on the skin. These spots are dirt and dead skin cells tha get trapped in your pores. Blackheads are more difficult to get rid off than acne vulgaris because the dirt is deep in your pores.

An easier type of acne to get rid of than blackheads is the whitehead. Whiteheads are made up of oil and dead skin cell particles. Contrary to popular belief, whiteheads do not appear white in color. They are, in fact, yellow, because they don’t get any oxygen within their cellular structure.

Acne papules is another of the types of acne with a fancy latin name. It is common around areas of the body where hair grows, and because of this they are often confused with in-grown hairs. Such spots appear when the hair follicles in the skin become inflamed. This may occur due to a reaction of the skin by sweat or by some form of medication.

And Finally…

The final type of acne we’ll discuss is called acne pustules, better known as the common zit. Zits are identified by red spots on the skin that have yellow centers. They are caused by a mixture of bacteria, oil, and dead body cells. To avoid post-acne scars, which are very hard to get rid of, you should avoid squeezing them and instead get them treated.
